The Orchard Pocket Forest

The Orchard Pocket Forest in Stamullen is a thriving, small-scale woodland designed to enhance biodiversity and reconnect fragmented green spaces. By planting native Irish trees, shrubs, and ground flora, we’re creating a natural refuge for pollinators, birds, and small mammals.

What’s Growing Here?

This 120m² pocket forest features carefully selected native species:

Blackthorn (Prunus spinosa)

Spindle (Euonymus europaeus)

Guelder Rose (Viburnum opulus)

Ramsons, Wood Anemone, Primrose, and Bluebells

Wild Strawberry and Lords-and-Ladies

This initiative aligns with Stamullen’s Biodiversity Action Plan—an effort to restore natural ecosystems.

Why Pocket Forests Matter

These small, densely planted woodlands serve as:

Vital wildlife corridors for pollinators and birds

Carbon sinks that help absorb emissions

Natural spaces for community engagement and outdoor learning

Community-Led Action

Funded and planted by volunteers from The Orchard, this pocket forest is part of a broader effort alongside our wildflower meadow and hedgerow restoration.

Let’s restore nature—one pocket forest at a time.
