The Orchard Biodiversity Project

The Orchard estate in Stamullen is blooming with biodiversity thanks to two community-led initiatives: a native wildflower meadow and a thriving pocket forest.

Wildflower Meadow

Volunteers prepared the ground and sowed a diverse mix of native Irish wildflowers sourced from wildflowers.ie. Species include:

  • Birdsfoot Trefoil, Red Clover, Ragged Robin
  • Devil’s-bit Scabious, Ox-Eye Daisy, Yellow Rattle
  • Meadow Buttercup, Cornflower, Wild Carrot

Pocket Forest

120m² of native woodland species were planted, including Blackthorn, Spindle, Ramsons, and Bluebells. This layered habitat supports pollinators, birds, and small mammals.
